The Security Committee of the provincial Council of Basra, Thursday, by masked gunmen seized at gunpoint on salaries of employees of the Iraqi oil drilling company when they were on the way back from the company's headquarters to their homes.
The Chairman of the Committee, said Jabbar Al-Saadi in an interview for "alsumaria news", the "masked gunmen intercepted the car was travelling some staff in the Iraqi drilling company of the Ministry of oil near the Directorate of the police training centre in the Shuaiba area and stole them a sum not less than 60 million", stating that "the amount stolen is staff salaries".
Saadi said that the robbers were travelling in civilian vehicles not registered ", adding that" the police scrambled to investigate the crime, upon receipt of complaints from employees who were exposed to theft. "
The relative security of Basra is stable with it after the middle of this year saw an increase in crimes of kidnapping, murder and armed robbery, as well as the resurgence of armed tribal conflict, which prompted the local Government to ask the Central Government to return the security units and military sectors to the province to contribute to the improvement of the security situation.
