World Gold Council, announced yesterday, Iraq solutions fifth Arab rank, and 37 in the world, in terms of the size of the gold reserves, while the United States ranked first globally and Saudi Arabia topped the list of Arab countries.
Council "golden" and said yesterday that "the IMF said during his report earlier this year, that Iraq is ranked 37 globally out of 100 countries were included in the report of the gold reserves," noting that "the size of Iraq's reserves of gold, stood at 89.8 tons." .
He stressed that "Iraq occupied Arab fifth place after Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Algeria and Libya," he said, adding that "the value of gold stood at 4.9 percent of Iraq's reserves of hard currency."
These advanced rank achieved by Iraq, came after the central bank bought National, in March of last year, 36 tons of pure gold bullion, high purity and certified according to international standards.
World Council, pointed out that "the United States, which has more than 8133 tons, ranked first for the gold reserves, followed by Germany in second place, while Albania ranked last of possessing one ton and 600 kg."
