Kurdish member of the Iraqi parliament Othman Doski says that 99% of Iraq’s food is imported while only 1% of its products are exported.
Doski believes that sectors other than oil, such as industry, agriculture and tourism, must develop for Iraq to become self-sufficient. He said that a parliamentarian committee is working to diversify Iraqi revenue streams in the future.
Doski emphasised that Iraq must not rely entirely on the income from oil to support the budget, and other sectors must develop.
Highlighting on-going discussions for economic reform, Doski expressed optimism for the development of the economy of Iraq.
