The President of the Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, who is currently visiting Washington. "the unity of Iraq is optional and not mandatory" but stressed that they have no immediate plans to break away from the Central Government in Baghdad.

Barzani said the Kurdish Government has received 17 percent of the federal budget for Iraq owed under the agreement assumes that the Kurds to 550,000 barrels of oil a day on average.
"We hope to respect the Baghdad agreement."
