Said British Petroleum Company (BP) The United States has become the largest oil producer for the first time since 1975 thanks to shale oil production, overtaking Saudi Arabia and Russia, according to the oil giant BP Group.
She said in a report yesterday that the global supply of oil record unprecedented growth in the last year, to about 2.1 million barrels per day.
She added that the increase in global supply due in large part to the United States, which increased output of 1.6 million barrels per day in 2014 to be 'the biggest growth in the world'.
She was the first time the country produced more than one million barrels per day to more than three consecutive years.
Bob Dudley, chief executive of the company and stressed that 'the United States surpassed Saudi Arabia and Russia both as a global product first oil for the first time since 1975'. He said that 'the consequences of the US shale oil revolution deep'.
The United States has reduced to a large extent its oil imports. 'American imports of oil and in 2014 amounted to less than half its highest level in 2005'. And so I left the United States as the first place global importer of oil to China.
BP and pointed to a decline in global oil demand this and attributed in particular to the economic slowdown in China, which is the second largest economy in the world after the United States.
