Talabani convenes heads of Iraq political parties

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani calls once again to convene heads of political parties. The meeting is welcomed by the National Alliance mainly State of law coalition which believes that latest political developments such as trainers immunity, gas and oil law and other issues would figure as a top priority on the meeting’s agenda. Kurdistan Alliance for its part shares a consistent view in this regard.
Al Iraqiya showed optimism towards Talabani’s meeting, however, the main topics it backs for discussion differ from the priorities of National and Kurdistan Alliances. Iraqiya still believes that the national strategic policy council, the nomination of security ministers and Arbil agreements are the main issues that should be discussed during the meeting. Iraqiya threatened to withdraw from both the meeting and the government if the other party fails to show some positive messages.
Heads of political parties’ meeting was not preceded by a preparatory meeting that sets forth the agenda. This explains the difference between State of Law and Iraqiya over the priorities of the meeting. This situation on the other hand cast doubts over the anticipated meeting which is deemed as decisive.
