The European Commission has decided to study the pipeline "Stream 2" between Russia and Germany careful study because of the severe criticisms to this project from the Baltic states, a project to expand the existing line.
This came on the lips of Vice-President of the Commission for Social Dialogue, Valdis Dombrovskis Affairs euro area during the conference held Latvian capital Riga.
Dombrovskis said that the Commission Vice-President for Energy Maros Sivkovic intends to examine whether the objectives of Russia's Gazprom Group, in cooperation with some Western European companies in the expansion of the project in line with the EU energy policy and with the competition rights.
And this expansion in gas supply lines between Russia and Europe will lose its position as the most important crossing Ukraine of Russian gas to Western Europe.
The Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk had said earlier, "The Stream 2 project is hostile to Ukraine and hostile to Europe."
