Al-kadhimi: all evidence and documents were handed over to the judiciary months ago

The issue regarding the funds withdrawn from the General Commission for Taxes in the Ministry of Finance calls for an examination of the conditions that helped spread corruption in the sections of the General Commission for Taxes and contributed to providing a cover for misappropriating public funds these conditions existed before this government.
Al-Kadhimi said in a tweet followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that
"My government had already discovered this violation based on information and indications pointing to it.
My government quickly opened investigations and proceeded with the necessary legal procedures; In cooperation with the judiciary, all evidence and documents were handed over to the judiciary months ago.
The judiciary, in turn, is moving forward with this case with high professionalism and calmness, away from the language of extortion and misleading populist rhetoric.
The judiciary rushed to issue orders to stop the disbursement of funds and issue arrest warrants against the suspects; The government's actions prevented the loss of other funds elsewhere in the Commission.
Hence, as we proceed on the legal path officially and with full transparency to reveal the truth,
we affirm that this government has followed the legal procedures by the relevant authorities in the Commission of integrity and the Judiciary and provided all documents and evidence that should contribute to revealing the truth, and knowing those involved in misappropriating public funds, with an approach that respects due process and the rule of law by the state and its institutions, and respects the judiciary and its institutions on which we rely to reveal all details and hold accountable everyone involved.
