The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs said that the Social Security Law will enter into force next August for all workers in the private and public sectors.
The ministry's spokesman, Najm Al -Aqabi, confirmed to Al -Sabah that there are more than 6 million workers in the private sector, only 10 percent of them were registered with social security over the past years.
He added that the ministry recorded a remarkable turnout from the workers in order to inform the law after it was approved by the House of Representatives recently, in addition to the receipt of dozens of complaints to the owners of companies and factories who delay salaries, and refuse to register them with social security.
Al -Aqabi indicated that the reason for the reluctance of employers and workers to register the guarantee during the past period is that there is no culture and awareness of the law,
so the media was invited to alert workers ’rights through publication and education, especially for the labor class for the purpose of enhancing the status of inclusion, improving their economic situation and encouraging Work in the private sector.
He noted that registration for workers to include the guarantee is open throughout the week, and
there are windows dedicated to the retirement and social security department designated for this purpose, as well as inquiries about all Questions by them.
