The Director General of the Iraqi Oil Tanker Company, Ali Qais Abdul Jabbar, said,
“The company, in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil, developed a plan to build tankers and expand the fleet of oil tankers.
The first tanker, the Sumer Tanker, was received 3 months ago, and after two weeks the tanker will arrive.” He confirmed) with a capacity of about 31 thousand tons, or approximately 200 thousand barrels,” pointing out that
“there is a plan in place to build two modern tankers with international specifications, and approval for that will be obtained soon.”
Abdul-Jabbar added, “The Minister of Oil stressed the need for the Oil Tanker Company to own a group of modern giant tankers to transport Iraqi crude oil, and
there is a new cooperation between the Oil Tanker Company and the Oil Marketing Company to purchase tankers and enter into partnership with them, in addition to 3 international companies moving forward.” Offers to the tanker company for partnership, and

"By owning a tanker fleet of at least two crude oil tankers in each project, and ensuring the return of the Iraqi crude oil fleet, self-reliance is achieved without the need for partnerships, and the Oil Tanker Company returns to practicing its main activity of transporting Iraqi crude oil to buyers from various countries of the world." ". He continued:
“As a matter of government support, yesterday, the Baghdad Tanker was launched based on the directives of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Oil, and the Undersecretary for Distribution Affairs.
It was equipped with gas oil in the amount of 10 million liters of gas oil to deliver it to our people in Gaza, to support hospitals and dismantle The siege as a result of the brutal aggression.” He pointed out,
"It was confirmed that these quantities would be transported by the national carrier, as the Baghdad tanker belonging to our company was equipped with crews, supplies, and fuel, and set off for the Port of Suez in Egypt to deliver these shipments," stressing that
"the company will be a national carrier representing Iraq in various countries of the world.".
For his part, the spokesman for the Ministry of Oil, Asim Jihad, said,
“The Ministry of Oil is keen to develop the maritime transport sector as it constitutes one of the important joints in the process of marketing Iraqi oil and one of the important pillars of the movement of transporting crude oil and fuel to global markets.” Jihad added,
"The Ministry plans, by working on several axes, to develop this sector and to contract to build a number of tankers with different transport capacities with reputable international companies to strengthen the Iraqi fleet and stimulate the expansion of the process of transporting crude oil and products and the commercial activity of Iraqi oil tankers." He pointed out that
"the last period witnessed the entry of a number of new tankers into the Iraqi fleet,
but the ministry's ambitions are greater than that, and are represented by contracting for large-capacity tankers, and also restoring the Iraqi fleet to its previous state, even better, and to be among the modern tankers transporting Iraqi oil to global markets."
And also investing in the presence of the Iraqi Oil Tanker Company for commercial work that aims to enhance financial and economic resources to support the federal treasury and expand the company’s activity to be an international company that accomplishes its tasks in the process of marketing Iraqi oil and the commercial process with regard to the energy and oil sector in general,” stressing that
