GCC in advanced stages of cooperation -- official

JEDDAH, June 13 (KUNA) -- GCC countries have achieved "advanced stages" of cooperation in various spheres, said the Director of GCC Affairs Department at the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministery, Ambassador Humoud Al-Roudan, affirmed.
Al-Roudan made the statement to Kuwait News Agency upon his arrival here for a GCC meeting, due here on Tuesday. The meeting will be held at the level of a special committee tasked with drafting resolutions and the final statement of the 119th session of the GCC ministerial council.
In order to consolidate these achievements, the Kuwaiti paper to be presented in the meeting calls for "patience on the accession of Morocco and Jordan to the GCC," Al-Roudan stressed.
This issue needs a thorough study and evaluation for the possibility of integration, especially that the current six GCC states have distinctive indentity and laws dating back to more than 30 years, and " it's difficult to add new changes to them without adequate consideration," he added.
Al-Roudan said the meeting will discuss the issue of the Natural Disaster Center, which the GCC have agreed for it to be headquartered in Kuwait. The center coordinates with the United Nations in this regard.
The meeting will also discuss the current developments on both Arab and international arenas, especially in Egypt and Yemen.
