Petronas completed 52% of the work of the Garraf oil field development

Erbil Jan. 23 (PNA) - The Director of the Garraf oil field development in the province of Dhi Qar Mehdi Star, Monday, that the alliance of oil companies led by Malaysia's Petronas has completed 52% of the work assigned to him to develop the field.
The Mahdi News Network Nasiriyah that the alliance which also includes company JAPEX Japanese, recently completed drilling of four oil wells in the field of Gharraf technology drilling oblique and horizontal and implemented for the first time in Iraq, indicating that the alliance of the two companies have had thus completed 52% of the work of development of the field according to plan set.
The Department of the oil fields in the province of Dhi Qar announced (20/11/2011) has started a Malaysian company Petronas drilled the third well in the Garraf oil field north of the city of Nasiriyah.
He guessed that the Mahdi is the other 13 wells drilled during the next six months, according to the work plan, to begin actual production of the field during the third quarter of 2012 and this card is estimated at up to 35 thousand barrels per day.
He pointed out that production will increase later for up to 60 thousand barrels per day and continue increasing until it reaches full capacity by 230 thousand barrels per day in 2017, adding that the field development project Gharraf is one of the most important strategic projects in the province as well as he shares run more than one thousand workers and technicians from their children.
Has Dhi Qar proven oil reserves estimated at approximately 20 billion barrels in five oil fields, the task is, the field of Nasiriyah large area Ktaah (30 km north west of Nasiriyah), which is expected to produce 300 thousand barrels per day, with its ability to produce one million barrels after the completion of rehabilitation, and the field Gharraf (25 km north of Nasiriyah), which is estimated concerned matters of oil production by 130 thousand barrels per day, as well as field Mesopotamia (Abu-column), estimated production in the event of operation or investment of 110 thousand barrels, while not specified gas reserves to maintain, which is located within the fields overlapping with fields oil or individually, and cause of fires in the number of occupants, at a time when teams seismic work west and north of the province to explore new oil fields.
