Baghdad (AIN) –A security force arrested 16 among the bodyguards of the judicially wanted Vice-president, Tariq al-Hashimi, in charge of assassinating several security leaders and judges by silenced weapons in Baghdad.
The Ministry of Interior reported in statement to All Iraq News Agency (AIN) on Monday "The force from Interior Ministry arrested 16 elements of Hashimi’s bodyguards who are responsible for implementing assassinations by silenced weapons targeting basically the officers of Interior Ministry and judges."
The statement added, "The detainees confessed after they were arrested because there are confessions by former arrested guards and that what led to them."
"The new bodyguards confession will be added to Hashimi's file which has been uncovered at the end of last December when Hashemi’s guards admitted of implementing terrorist operations", the statement pointed out.
The Supreme Judicial Council issued at 19 December / 2011 an arrest warrant against the Vice-president, Tariq al-Hashimi , and prevented him from traveling,
