KARBALA / Aswat al-Iraq: A National Alliance MP called for a real deduction in the salaries of the three presidencies and cancel pensions, and to only allocate such pensions for those who remain in the parliament for five consecutive rounds.
MP Manal al-Mussawi pointed out this proposal is to "make the citizen feel that the MP did not ascend to the post for the privileges".
Citizens and NGO activists have occasionally demanded a decrease in the salaries of senior officials, but these demands are rejected by a great number of Parliamentarians.
Mussawi told Aswat al-Iraq that it is demanded that the salary should be reduced by one fourth.
