BAGHDAD, Feb. 11 (AKnews) - Privitasing the government's Central Markets company has started, the Trade Ministry announced on Saturday.
The Inspector General of the ministry , Mohammed Hussein al-Wazzan, told AKnews that investment was needed to improve the economic situation and at least pay the salaries of the company's 6,000 plus employees.
The struggling company's fortunes has not improved since 2003.
The Ministry of Trade announced the disbandment of another company at the same time. However the Vehicles and Machines Trading company will not be dissolved because it is self-funded and profit-making.
The government is currently in the process of privatising 180 state-owned companies, to prepare them to enter the world market by 2015.
