Barzani is new Premier with 71 votes

ARBIL / Aswat al-Iraq: In an extraordinary session of the Kurdish Parliament, Nijirvan Barzani got 71 votes, out of 111, to be the next prime minister for the coming two years, here.
The vote was boycotted by the Kurdish opposition parties.
On the other hand, Imad Ahmed was elected as his deputy.
The Kurdish opposition parties boycotted yesterday the session for electing a Parliament Speaker and his deputy.
The opposition parties got 35 seats of 111.
According to the strategic agreement, the main two Kurdish Parties, the Democratic and National Union are to exchange the premiership and parliament posts each two years.
Opposition said that this strategic agreement will have its effects on the political life in Kurdistan, role of democracy and their continued presence in power.
