BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Usama al-Nujiefi on Thursday accused foreign bodies of standing behind the recent attacks and explosions that rattled Iraq to hinder holding the Arab summit and the National Conference.
"The criminal explosions and acts of violence against Iraqis on Thursday aim at flaring up strife among Iraqis and at foiling the coming Arab summit and the National Conference," a statement of the parliament's chairmanship quoted al-Nujiefi as saying.
He expressed his deep sorrow over the scores of lives claimed in the attacks today, urging security authorities to take all necessary measures to stop these acts.
Baghdad is due to host the coming Arab summit next March, while the National Conference will be held to solve all political problems facing the country.
