Iraq: All vegetable imports banned
02/27/2012
Iraq has banned the importation of all vegetables due to an abundant local production.
Usually Iraq imports most of its vegetables from Syria, Jordan and Iran and its fruits from Turkey.
This is nothing new for Iraq, which has often banned certain products at certain times for similar reasons. It is a larger ban than usual however, and it does confirm that the current regime will take such measures to protest its domestic agricultural production.
