DUHOK, June 3 (AKnews) - An MP from Kurdish Blocs Coalition (KBC) hinted today about prosecuting an MP from the State of Law Coalition (SLC) who accused those MPs against Maliki of receiving bribes in exchange for voting to withdraw confidence from the PM.
Ihsan al-Awadi from the SLC led by Maliki said in a statement attributed to him that Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia are planning to withdraw confidence from the PM and that these countries allocated $500m (582bn IQD) to implement this process. The statement added that "$2-3m (2.3-3.4bn IQD) is paid to each anti-Maliki MP if the MP refuses to sign the withdrawal paper under threat."
Sharif Suleiman Ali from the KBC denied the charges, saying they are baseless. He called on the MP responsible for spreading these rumors to provide evidence that prove the allegations.
Ali added: "These accusations doubt the patriotism of the MPs and the opposing political blocs. MPs must file a lawsuit in the courts against the MP who said these charges and he should be trialed."
Ali, who is a Yezidi MP, continued: "The six Yezidi MPs within the KBC are committed to any decision taken by the leadership of the coalition in order to achieve national partnership and prevent the emergence of a new dictatorship and the exclusion of any party and allow the implementation of the constitution and political agreements concluded between the main parties in the country."
The Sadrist Movement, the KBC and Iraqiya are seeking to topple Maliki's government after collecting the signatures of 164 MPs in the Council of Representatives.
