Houston Fulbright partner Kevin O'Gorman recently served as an advisor on arbitration law and enabling legislation in meetings with a blue-ribbon delegation of Iraqi government officials and judges.
O'Gorman was the sole advisor based in the United States, and was joined by arbitration experts from Egypt, England, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.
The meetings took place in Dubai, U.A.E. in conjunction with the Iraqi government consultations on reforms to Iraq's international commercial arbitration framework. The Iraqi delegation included representatives of each branch of government, including the Iraqi State Shura Council, the Council of Ministers, the Council of Representatives and senior members of the judiciary.
The program was sponsored by the Commercial Law Development Program of the United States Department of Commerce in coordination with the Iraqi State Shura Council, and funded by the U.S. Department of State.
O'Gorman is based in Houston and acts as counsel in international arbitration and litigation cases involving energy, commercial and investor-state disputes. He is a member of the Texas and New York Bars and is admitted to the roll of solicitors in England and Wales.
