ERBIL, June 19 (AKnews) - Kurdistan's Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources said the Kurdistan Region produces 60,000 tones of poultry meat every year.
Director of animal resources Ramazan Karim said: "We expect the size of poultry meats in the region to increase to 100,000 tones before 2013."
In the last five months nearly 25,000 tones of poultry meat have been produced in the region, said the director.
Egg production in the region amounted to 520 million eggs per year. This number does not meet the demand of the Kurdish market. Therefore the region imports eggs from neighboring countries, said the director.
The Kurdistan Region has 1,000 poultry projects.
