BAGHDAD, Aug. 19 (AKnews) - The State of Law Coalition (SLC) led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has said that it is not responsible for naming the interior and defense ministers, adding that resolving the file needs sincere intentions from all of the political blocs.
The agreement between the political blocs stated that the National Alliance (NA) names the candidate for the Interior Ministry and Iraqiya names the candidate for the Ministry of Defense.
Leader in the State of Law Coalition Mohammed al-Saihoud said: "The reforms committee classified the political problems into three sections, including short term and quick decisiveness, medium term and the other is long term. The short term section needs solutions like the security ministries.
"The issue of the security ministries is not related to the NA or the government, but all parties are involved as all of them are concerned in reforms.”
The Ministry of Defense is managed temporarily by Culture Minister Saadoun al-Dulaimi after being assigned by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki amid criticism of Allawi's list, while Maliki still holds the post of the Minister of Interior.
Iraqiya List demands an end to the file of security and military formations that are related to the commander of the armed forces, most notably "the power of counter-terrorism,” considering it to be unconstitutional.
