IHEC Chairman praises the UN continued support

Baghdad (NINA) – Head of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), Sarbest Mustafa, praised the continued support provided by the UN to the Commission by offering consultation and help in making the election process successful through keeping international experts at the Commission.
In a joint press conference with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, Mr. Martin Kobler, on Monday, Oct. 1, Mustafa affirmed the Commission's intention to carry on its task in transparency and professionalism to achieve honest election; according to a statement by United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
For his part, Kobler said that he is happy and proud of forming the new Commission that the UN worked hard toward forming this Commission. He expressed the international community's support to the election process, pointing out that no development can be realized without having democracy developed and no election without strong and honest commission.
The statement pointed out that the new Commission took office few days ago when it took oath of allegiance before the Supreme Judicial Council. / End.
