BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi Premier Nouri al-Maliki stated during his meeting with the Chinese President Hu Jintao that Iraq needs the support of China to get out of the UN Chapter VII, as stated by his office today.
"Iraq is looking forward for China to be a strategic partner in its economic development in different spheres," Maliki highlighted.
The statement reported that "China is actively working on minimizing or canceling Iraqi debts and supporting the country in the UN Security Council to get rid of the international sanctions."
Premier Maliki headed a high ranking delegation on an officail 3-day visit to hold talks on economic, trade and political issues.
The delegation is comprised of ministers of agriculture, industry, oil and investment commission.
