Cotecna Appointed for Pre-Importation Inspection

Swiss company Cotecna has been officially appointed by the Iraqi Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC), to handle the implementation of a verification of conformity program for goods imported into Iraq.
Based on article 3 (clause of Iraqi law n°54 of 1979, COSQC has been empowered by the Iraqi Ministry of Planning to launch this program.
As part of the country’s import verification program, Cotecna will carry out verifications and issuance of Certificate of Conformity (CoC) or Non Conformity Report (NCR) in countries of origin, as well as checks at specified border points in Iraq.
Robert Massey, Cotecna’s CEO, said:
“Cotecna is proud to have been chosen by COSQC for this mandate. We will deploy our best efforts to contribute to the program’s success for better consumer protection and the wellbeing of the people of Iraq.“
