Maliki refuses to pay provincial councils' salaries, says MP

Baghdad (AIN) -MP Iqbal al-Ghorabi, member of the parliament Regions & Provinces Committee, confirmed the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki's refusal to pay the salaries of the provincial councils' members on pretext of auditing them by the Council of Ministers' Secretariat General.
Ghorabi said in a statement received by AIN "Maliki declined to pay the provincial councils members' salaries, this means he deprived them from their salaries for a whole year."
"The article No.40 of 2012 federal budget is illegal and was canceled by a law ratified at the parliament in last year," she added noting "It was supposed to pay their salaries Retroactively in the beginning of current April for a whole year as their salaries were suspended in April, 2012." /End/
