Maliki's visit discussed in Barzani and Maruti’s meeting

Shafaq News / The President of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Nachirvan Barzani, expressed his wishes for Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki's visit to Erbil to be a good start to progress dialogue initiated during the region delegation’s visit under his chairmanship to Baghdad, announcing during a meeting with Italy's ambassador to Iraq , Massimo Maruti, Erbil's desire to resolve all outstanding issues with Baghdad.

“Barzani received on Thursday morning, Ambassador of Italy to Iraq, Massimo Maruti ,” adding that “ the meeting discussed ways of strengthening bilateral relations between Kurdistan Region and Italy,” a statement of KRG presidency received by “Shafaq News” stated.

The statement noted that “the two sides expressed their willingness to continue to work on the creation of positive conditions, the role of the Representation of KRG in Rome, the Italian Consulate in Erbil and mutual cooperation in various fields”.

On the situation in the region in general and Syria in particular, Barzani expressed his deep concern about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Syria, “adding that” the important point for Kurdistan is for the Kurds to live in Syria under safe conditions “.
