Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said on Sunday it had signed a contract with the company tax buck to restore global value-added tax (VAT) from all countries of the world that impose this tax. 

He said company spokesman Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Sabah in a press statement received by Reuters a copy of it that the move was "in line with the overall strategic direction of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and private financial resources."

Just wondering if this is an UN imposed regulation, and if so, why, suddenly, are they doing this NOW and why haven't they been doing this previously?
