Baghdad (AIN) -The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hoshyar Zibari, announced on Thursday "Iraq now is a free country."
In a press conference held at the UN building in New York after completing the vote on relieving Iraq from the UN sanctions stated in the UN Charter's 7th Chapter, Zibari said "Iraq restored its normal standing at the international community and will practice its role as any other stable country," noting "Iraq suffered a lot from the boycotting, embargo and compensations , but from now on, Iraq becomes free country and will head towards the rebuilding process and ensuring stability."
Concerning the presence of the UN mission in Iraq and its role, Zibari pointed out "UNAMI is present in Iraq under the Iraqi movement's approval and it is working on enhancing Iraq's relations with the neighboring countries and has large business including regaining the Jewish archive."
"The UN Charter's Sixth Chapter is different from the Seventh one which is more dangerous on Iraq than the Sixth," he added noting "There are talks being conducted to settle the 6th Ch."
