Maliki calls on UAE companies to invest

Stressed during his meeting with Chinese ambassador to deepen relations between Baghdad and Beijing

New Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to call for UAE companies to invest in the country, as called for deepening relations between Iraq and China.
This came during a meeting at his office yesterday, the official ambassador to the United Arab Emirates to Iraq, Abdullah Ibrahim Al Shehhi.
He called on Maliki to promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries, where renewed his call to UAE companies to invest and work in Iraq.
The prime minister, according to a statement issued by his office received »Sabah» copy of it, the need to resolve issues and problems that hamper the process of contracting for the purpose of facilitating investment opportunities, calling on the concerned authorities in both countries to speed up the folding stages of the contract and to initiate processes of construction and reconstruction projects that have been agreed upon in principle between the two sides. For his part, UAE ambassador to his country's desire to invest in Iraq and expand the horizons of economic cooperation and trade between the two countries.
Al Shehhi said that the level of trade between Iraq and the United Arab Emirates escalated dramatically different from past years, calling to activate the work of the Joint Committee between the two countries with a desire to enter into various agreements, particularly in the field of investment protection, and customs duties.
In the meantime, the Prime Minister received the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Zhang Yi, on the occasion of ending his mission in Iraq. Maliki called the meeting to the development of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Beijing, the Chinese side urged the necessity of activating the work to start in entering the Chinese companies to Iraq. The Prime Minister said: The «our last visit to China revealed a great capacity of Chinese companies looking to take advantage of those experiences in the process of reconstruction in Iraq», called «Iraqi companies and Iraqi traders to the selection of goods with high quality and well-known in China». Also praised the President Minister on China's role in support of Iraq and its government and people, stressing that the government has the desire and political will to deepen relations with China and documented.
On his part, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Zhang Yi, his country's desire for the development of bilateral relations between the two countries. He stressed that China supports and encourages its enterprises to enter the Iraqi market and investment in the oil and gas and telecommunications.
