Foreign Minister, Ibrahim al-Jaafari, on Wednesday, to adopt a national strategy for the advancement of general and religious tourism, including in particular, being a "wealth of emerging non-depleted" represents an important economic gateway, while the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities just Hurcab, that the next phase will see the coordination of the efforts of the two ministries to activate the tourism sector and to contribute to the support of the national economy.
This came during a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, today, the Minister of Tourism, to discuss "the work of the two ministries coordination mechanism, and to overcome the obstacles in front of the tourist companies operating in Iraq, and to facilitate the granting of visas for tourists, in order to serve the tourism sector," according to a Foreign Ministry statement, received a (long-Presse) a copy of it.
He said al-Jaafari, also cited the statement, "The tourism wealth upward, and is depleted Unlike many resources depleted, including oil, which depends upon the Iraqi economy by almost 94 percent, and reduced the impact of much of Iraq's budget", calling for the need "to provide the necessary requirements for the advancement by tourism. "
The Foreign Minister, said: "Tourism is an important economic gateway, the religious ones in particular, because of its Iraq spread to many shrines and holy places that represent religions, sects, and denominations all," and urged "the adoption of a national strategy in which all contribute to the ministries, to keep pace with development winning in the tourism sector globally. "
He said al-Jaafari, that "the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will work in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and other stakeholders, to address the obstacles that stand in the upgrading of the field of tourism."
The statement quoted the Minister of Tourism, that he "praised the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in facilitating the work of tourist companies in Iraq," noting that "the next phase will see the coordination of the efforts of the two ministries, including hurt in the activation of the tourism sector, and to contribute to the national economy."
It is noteworthy that religious tourism is one of the important pillars of the Iraqi economy, which receives the holy cities, notably Najaf, Karbala and Kadhimiya, Samarra, millions of Arab and foreign visitors annually.
