BAGHDAD / NINA / The Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi confirmed on Monday the importance of the establishment of a headquarters of a joint operations in Kirkuk to coordinate with the existing forces and joint operations in Baghdad.
A statement by the Office of Abadi, quoted him as saying during a meeting with a delegation from the province of Kirkuk, that the IS represents a threat to the region and the world, and we need to massive support from the international community to eliminate it, and that the past few days we have witnessed an increase in the pace of international support for Iraq and demanded that it continues.
Abadi said “we have agreed with the international community on the importance of increasing the frequency of support and continue to provide Iraq with ammunition, weapons and equipment because there are several fronts fighting with these terrorist gangs.”
He pointed out that “Kirkuk represents a small Iraq in which all components meet, a symbol of peaceful coexistence, which seek to maintain it, therefore, the security of the province of Kirkuk and the rest of the provinces is very important to us.
The meeting witnessed the discussion of the security situation in the province and plans for securing the province of risk of the IS gangs and the elimination of this terrorist organization and the issue of displaced persons and the formation of the headquarters of the joint operations.
The delegation included the governor of Kirkuk Najim al-Din Kaream, MPs Khalid al-Mufriji and Hasan Turan and the Police Chief of the provincial and security leaders in the province, and the meeting was attended by Defense Minister Khaled al-Obeidi, and a number of military leaders .
