Zebari discusses with a delegation of the US Congress to promote regional cooperation

BAGHDAD / Nina / Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari discussed on Sunday with a delegation from the US Congress, the role of the international coalition in support of Iraq and Iraqi forces in the fight against Daash and strengthen regional cooperation.
A statement by the Ministry of Finance today, “said that Zebari received this evening, the delegation of the US Congress headed by Michael McColl Chairman of the National Security Committee in the Congress and discussed during the meeting the Iraqi – US relations in the light of the results of the visit of Prime Minister and government delegation to Washington recently and his meetings with the leaders of the Congress. ”
The Minister reviewed the role of the international coalition in support of Iraq and Iraqi forces in the fight against Daash, and ways to combat it, including reducing the flow of foreign fighters and recruiting into its ranks, as well as promoting regional cooperation and not to legitimize their thought by some institutions and clerics.
The meeting also discussed the last draft resolution of the Armed Services Committee in the US Congress and its implications for the political positions of the parliamentary blocs and the importance of working together in order to secure the necessary support for the Iraqi armed forces and to promote national unity.
