Electricity Announces enter four foreign companies for privatization projects

BAGHDAD / Center Brief for the Iraqi Media Network (IMN) and the Ministry of Electricity announced the entry of four foreign companies to privatization projects in electric power production sector, stressing that these companies can produce 14 000 MW.
He said ministry spokesman Mohammed Fathi's (IMN) "The ministry has contracted with two companies for the privatization of the electricity sector, the production of seven thousand megawatts card," noting that it was "seven thousand megawatts to refer to these two companies, as well as seven other thousands will be forwarded soon to the two other companies."
Fathi said that "the first station will work in Baghdad, in the south of the capital Basmaja area, and the other will be in Basra."
He explained that "the establishment of power stations needs to be processed for almost two years."
According to the Minister of Electricity Qassim Fahdawi Earlier, his ministry's intention to privatize the electric power sector based on investment, pledging an end to the energy problem in the country before the end of the constitutional term of the current government.
