Security Council extends the period of [UNAMI] in Iraq for another year

UN Security Council members unanimously decided today to extend the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq [UNAMI] for another year completed by July 31, 2016.
The Council underlined in Resolution No. 2233 on the need to preserve the security of United Nations staff to do their work for the benefit of the people of Iraq, calling on the Iraqi government to "continue to provide security and logistical support for the United Nations presence in Iraq."
He pointed to the decision that the existence of the organization Daash under the sovereignty of Iraq's territory constitutes a major threat to the future of the country noting that the only way to counter the threat of Daash is the work of all Iraqis together to meet the security and political needs.
The resolution also welcomed the recommendation of the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in his recent review of the mission and prioritize tasks.
He called the Secretary-General of the International Organization also hold consultations with the Iraqi government and to submit a report containing more details about this recommendation to the Council within 90 days.
It is said that UNAMI was formed under UN Security Council Resolution 1500 in 2003 at the request of Alaraca.anthy side
