The province decides to impose taxes on imported agricultural products

The Ministry of Agriculture in the Kurdistan region, on Saturday, the imposition of taxes on imported agricultural products, but pointed out that the purpose of it, "activate" the local market and support of agricultural crops, while formed a committee to determine the amount of taxes.
The ministry said in a statement received (range Press), a copy of it, that "Agriculture Minister Abdul Sattar Majeed and the Governor of Erbil, met today to agree on a mechanism to stimulate the domestic market and the preservation of local products."
The statement added that "The ministry has developed a plan to revitalize the local market to the global market and to support agricultural crops in the region through the imposition of taxes on imported agricultural products to the region."
The statement pointed out that "the export offices would stop working and be seized for a period of time in the event of non-payment of taxes on entering the territory products," stressing that "The ministry will form a committee to determine the customs taxes on imported products up to get a crop in the region within the agricultural seasons ".
The agricultural sector is one of the important sectors of the region as it is the land of diverse geography allows it to cultivate various crops, but that, according to specialists did not reach yet to the level of ambition.
