Tomorrow Press / BAGHDAD: The governor of the Iraqi Central Bank on the Keywords, Saturday, that the bank's past proposing bank transfer Rafidain and Rasheed banks to shareholders, revealed the existence of the support and the support of stakeholders.
Keywords and said in an interview for "tomorrow Press," that "the central bank's role in promoting the private sector and not the rumors that there is a marginalization and neglect of him," noting that "the most important step of the Bank in this direction is the proposal to the Cabinet to transfer the most important bankers in Iraq Rasheed Bank and the Rafidain Bank to special contribution as companies ".
He added that "Iraq and by virtue of size these two banks the central bank had to devote two banks by attracting contributions from foreign banks and this is very important and perhaps decisive element and the important thing is to restructure the banking sector so as to create a competitive role for the sector would be a way to success and advancement of the banking sector."
Keywords and stressed "we are working in this vital aspect and are careful and thoughtful and encouragement by the Minister of Finance and the Office of Financial Supervision and the support of the World Bank", noting that "the bank in the process of solving the problems existing phase there to be a chance to do a big step, but the largest in Iraq and in the region step" .
And the Iraqi banking system consists of 54 banks, including seven state banks, one of them an Islamic newly established, and there are 23 private commercial banks, including nine Islamic banks. There are also 15 branches of foreign banks, and there are many institutions that do some banking, of which 34 money transfer company, and nearly 200 belonging to banks, foreign exchange company or deal with the banks, with the Loan Guarantee Company and to finance small and medium enterprises, with two companies for services of electronic banking and card Smart, in addition to nearly 800 branches and subsidiary banks distributed all over the governorates of Iraq.
