Egyptian companies sign contracts worth 16 million dollars during their participation in the Baghdad exhibition

CAIRO - The Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry announced the signing of contracts with the Iraqi side at a value of 16 million dollars.
"The Egyptian participation in the Baghdad International Fair reflects the Egyptian government's keenness to strengthen trade and investment relations with the State of Iraq and its efforts to create a real partnership between the two countries, especially with regard to reconstruction and construction projects," Tareq Qabil said in a statement on Saturday .
He added that the initial contracts for the Egyptian companies participating in the exhibition included the fields of ceramics, electrical appliances, home furnishings, furniture, food products, ready-made garments, handmade products and leather products.
Cain pointed out that the Egyptian pavilion at the exhibition, which amounted to 1500 square meters is the second largest official wing of the Arab and foreign countries and achieved an unprecedented turnout of traders and citizens .
Cabil explained that the Board of Directors of the Export Development Fund approved recently to support the cost of shipping to Iraq by 50% for all products in order to increase the terms of trade between the two brotherly countries.
He pointed to the importance of re-operation of road transport routes between the two countries, which contributes to the strengthening of trade relations between Egypt and Iraq during the next phase .
For his part, the head of the Commercial Representation Agency said that the Egyptian Commercial Office in Baghdad has exerted great efforts in facilitating the Egyptian participation in the activities of the 44th session of the Baghdad International Fair which was held at the end of last October with the participation of 18 countries, 400 Arab and international companies and more than 80 companies Egyptian.
Ahmed Antar added that the Bureau has prepared and arranged meetings between the participating Egyptian companies and their Iraqi counterparts, which contributed to the conclusion of a number of contracts and agreements between the two sides.
Antar pointed out that the Bureau also prepared a report on the results of the Egyptian participation in the exhibition, which provided an opportunity to present prospects of promising cooperation between Egypt and Iraq in the reconstruction projects and areas of construction, reconstruction, communications, trade, industry and agriculture .
