The Minister of Industry and Minerals Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani announced the issuance of a government decision to support and activate partnership with the private sector in order to attract Iraqi and Arab companies and investors to implement vital projects supporting the development and economy of Iraq.
The Iraqi Economic Development Conference was held in the middle of last month under the patronage of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, with the aim of developing the Iraqi economy and achieving sustainable development between the public sector and private companies.
In this regard, economic expert Ahmed Makluf said that activating the role of the private sector and attracting large investors supports the work of public-private partnerships to implement strategic and service projects in the country that contribute to the welfare of Iraqi society.
He added in a statement to the "morning": "The recommendations of the preliminary meeting of the Conference approved by the Council of Ministers, consistent with the direction of the government, which serves the wishes of the Iraqi citizen to provide basic services for him, in addition to support the national product instead of his counterpart importer".
For his part, the Director of the Media and Public Relations Center at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals Abdul Wahid Alwan Al-Shammari said in a statement to the ministry: "The Council of Ministers in its regular session thirty-third, held on 28 August last, the adoption of the recommendations of the first preparatory meeting of the Iraqi Economic Development Conference, including the approval of the abolition of the resolution of the Council (492) for the year 2013, provided that the procedures for the conclusion of the participation contracts shall be preceded by the provision of an integrated economic and technical feasibility study prepared by the experts and specialists.
Al-Shammari pointed to the importance and impact of canceling resolution 492 for the year 2013 on activating the partnership contracts with the private sector and attracting Iraqi, Arab and foreign investors.
He pointed out that the ministry had many meetings, deliberations and talks with the departments, ministries and concerned bodies to diagnose and overcome the obstacles facing the private sector and investors..
He stressed the Ministry's efforts to participate and invest with the private sector, through serious efforts to attract and attract companies, businessmen and investors, to rehabilitate and operate laboratories and develop companies, transfer technology, exchange experiences, add new production lines, diversify local production and implement vital projects., In order to build a national competitive industry and supportive of development and economy in Iraq.
For his part, urged the concerned authorities to give a greater role to the private sector and attract investors able to carry out important projects in the country, to ease the burden of the government in the allocation of additional funds for investment projects, which are a burden on the budget.
He also pointed out that partnership with the private sector will achieve a qualitative leap in the economy of the country, which invests the expertise and technological capabilities, as well as the investment of technical capacities and manpower, to achieve the best services for the Iraqi people.
