Baghdad: Shaima Rasheed
Parliament is awaiting important amendments from the government regarding the labor law to vote on it, while the new amendment will require owners of companies and factories to guarantee workers and provide pensions.
A member of the Parliamentary Work Committee, Fadel Al-Fatlawi, told Al-Sabah: "Parliament will work to pass this important law and make amendments to it to ensure workers' rights and their inclusion in the retirement law."
He added that "the amendments to the law are still with the government, as the Minister of Labor was hosted on this issue," noting that
"the committee is keen to make the law among its priorities in the coming period."
Al-Fatlawi pointed out that "the law guarantees workers rights by obliging companies and project owners to include the labor rights they have," noting that "this law will open wide doors for workers and reduce pressure on the government sector."
And he stated that "the Ministry of Labor is in constant endeavor to increase the inclusion of greater numbers of social care, especially with the difficult economic situation and the Corona pandemic," revealing "an increase in the allocations of the Ministry of Labor in the 2021 budget for this purpose."
