A former member of the Finance Committee, Abdul-Hadi Al-Saadawi, revealed, on Saturday, that "the stolen Iraqi funds are spread in most international banks."
Al-Saadawi said, in a statement to the "Information" agency, that "the amount of smuggled money is measured by the volume of goods returned in exchange for it, but we did not record any goods that entered Iraq in exchange for the large sums of money that were smuggled abroad."
He pointed out that "the state adopts prosthetic solutions in dealing with this situation, and there is no real intention to return those funds and deposit them in the Iraqi treasury, because the matter requires the force of law and high diplomacy."
He pointed out, "So far, there are no Iraqi laws to combat this scourge, and what is being done is just decisions and a group of committees that constitute nothing more than that."
Iraq's smuggled money from 2003 to today amounts to 300 to 500 billion dollars as an unofficial proceeds published by specialists in economic affairs. Done / 25 SR
