Minister of Commerce: The success of the marketing season is a national task

The Ministry of Commerce announced that the General Company for Grain Trade has organized a joint symposium with a large number of farmers and farmers from different governorates with the aim of completing preparations for the success of the marketing season for the wheat crop, which is scheduled to start tomorrow.
In a statement received by Mawazine News, the ministry stated, "With the aim of supporting farmers, peasants and the agricultural sector, which is one of the priorities of the government program,
and in light of the claims of the crisis of Russia and Ukraine and the accompanying rise in wheat and barley prices globally and with the approach of the marketing season for the wheat crop in Iraq for 2022,
The joint symposium was launched on the marketing season, enhancing food security and harnessing all available capabilities in order to secure strategic storage on the grounds of the Baghdad International Fair, in the presence of the Minister of Trade, Alaa Al-Jubouri, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mahdi Al-Jubouri, the Director General of the Grain Trade Company, Muhammad Hanoun Al-Hamdani, and the President of the General Union of Agricultural Associations in Iraq, Hassan Nassif Al-Tamimi and a number of peasants and farmers in Iraq.
The statement added, "The symposium witnessed a review of the most important problems facing the farmer and the problem of water scarcity.
He also called for an increase in the meager and ineffective amount of dab fertilizer distributed to farmers and an increase in Iraqi wheat prices to keep pace with the increase in global wheat prices."
The Minister of Commerce stressed, according to the statement, that "there is a national and social responsibility towards providing food security for citizens, and that
the farmer is an essential part in the process of providing the basic material for flour, which the Iraqi government seeks to secure that material in order to distribute it within the ration card items."
He continued, "The Ministry of Commerce was able to reduce the burden on farmers and farmers by paying their dues from the funds of its companies and according to the recent decisions of the Council of Ministers, and the Ministry of Commerce also took the initiative to present some decisions in the Ministerial Council for the Economy in order to develop a complete vision about paying all the remaining amounts for the year 2021, which It has been paid in full, and a set of solutions have been developed related to the repayment of the amounts for the previous years.
