Representative of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Suhaila Al-Sultani, confirmed, on Tuesday, that
corruption and courtesies were the reason for not adopting the petro-dollar law on continuous financial support to the oil-producing governorates. Al-Sultani said in an interview with "Information" that
"the southern governorates are the most dependent on Iraq's oil exports,
but they still suffer from a lack of services, dilapidated infrastructure and many other crises." She added,
"The petrodollar law has not been properly applied by the Iraqi government, and
it continues to deprive the southern provinces of the law that will increase additional revenues outside the general budget." And she continued,
"The next government will work to impose work on the petrodollar law and leave courtesies in sending oil revenues to some provinces, including Erbil."
The purpose of the petrodollar law was to finance the oil governorates with continuous funds and outside the budget allocations to support their development projects and build the infrastructure needed by the governorate, and
it was included in the 2010 budget, according to which the Ministry of Finance commits to allocating $5 for each barrel produced or refined in the oil governorates,
later It was amended to 5% of the price of a barrel, to be paid to the oil-producing governorates,
but it has not been implemented or implemented so far by the Ministry of Finance, citing the financial deficit. Ended 25/j
