Today, Wednesday, a security source revealed the way money changers achieve great financial benefits in the Iraqi markets, and while
he confirmed that they are making imaginary profits, he indicated that this money is smuggled to the Kurdistan region and then to Turkey. The source said, in an interview with Al-Maalouma, that
"the owners of money changers and offices for buying and selling the dollar currency are working at the present time to collect the largest possible amount of hard currency and refrain from offering it in the Iraqi markets." He added,
"This process leads to achieving great gains by increasing the selling prices of the currency by more than 10%," pointing out that
"the Iraqi markets, and if they offer the dollar at a price of 1450 to the dinar, then these offices sell it 1550 to the Kurdistan region." The source explained,
"The price conflicts in the markets are not only financial, but their goals may also be political, by smuggling dollars from the region to Turkey directly." The source pointed out,
"The security forces, despite the campaigns to combat currency smugglers and arrest price manipulators, the offices and money changers are so far taking illegal action by buying dollars and not selling them in the markets."
The exchange rates of the dollar witnessed a new decline today, Wednesday, on the Iraqi Stock Exchange.
The selling price of the dollar was 146,000 dinars per 100 dollars, while the buying price of the dollar was 145,000 dinars per 100 dollars.
And the Council of Ministers had approved, yesterday, Tuesday, the decision of the Central Bank administration to reduce the exchange rates of the dollar to 1330 dinars per dollar in the Iraqi markets. Ended / 25R
