BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi vice-president Tariq al-Hashimi said today that "targeting some areas in Baghdad is a dangerous indication of a new terrorist plan to ignite a sectarian conflict".
In a statement from his temporary office in Kurdistan, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, Hashimi denounced yesterday Baghdad explosions, expressing his sympathy with the victims and their families.
"It is proved that the security forces are still behind the scene, which should exert extra efforts to chase the terrorists", he added.
Baghdad witnessed a number of continued explosions that led to 70 killings and 180 wounded, mostly of the civilians, at a time the country is having a political crisis following the criminal charges against vice-president Tariq al-Hashimi, and withdrawing confidence from deputy premier Saleh al-Mutlaq of the Iraqiya bloc.
