Iraqi State of Law Coalition headed by Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki stated, on Monday, that demands to dissolve Iraqi Parliament are “untruthful and delusive.” Conditions stipulated in Iraq’s Constitution to dissolve the Parliament are hard to achieve, the coalition argued stressing that advocates of Parliament dissolution are using it as a mean of pressure.

“All those calling to dissolve the parliament are untruthful and delusive,” State of Law Coalition MP Abbas Al Bayati, told Alsumarianews stressing that Iraqi constitution’s terms are strenuous and cannot be accomplished at the current stage.
“Those who refer to this mean use it for pressure,” Bayati pointed out.
“Iraq cannot handle re-holding elections on financial, security and political levels,” Bayati declared stressing that everyone knows that new elections wouldn’t change more than 10% of Iraq’s political map.

Al Ahrar Bloc affiliated to Sadr movement called, on Monday, to dissolve Iraqi Parliament and carry out early elections. Parliament dissolution will be tackled within the National Alliance, the bloc announced noting that early elections would hinder foreign agendas that are undertaken by some Iraqi political blocs, a source told Alsumaria.

Arrest warrant issued for Iraqiya official Vice-President Tarek Al Hashimi and the demand of Prime Minister Maliki to withdraw the vote of confidence of his deputy Saleh Al Mutlaq who is also a member of Iraqiya are behind the major crisis currently shaking Iraq’s political process. Iraqiya List headed by Iyad Allawi, for its part, announced the suspension of its membership in Iraqi parliament and cabinet and called to withdraw the vote of confidence of Al Maliki. This sequence of developments coincides with the US withdrawal from the country which many warned against its repercussions.
