MOL Plc. hereby informs the capital market participants about the operational update of Akri-
Bijeel block and provides a detailed preliminary working program for 2012. As a result of the
earlier exploration works between 2007 and 2009, MOL identified three to five hydrocarbon
prospects in the Akri-Bijeel Block. The first exploration well justified one of these in the
beginning of 2010. The Bijell-1 well produced during the joint cased hole test 3,743 bbl/d 13-
18°API oil and 99 boe/d associated gas from Jurassic formations. The second exploration
well, Bekhme-1, which was drilled 20 km to the east from the Bijell-1 discovery well, was
tested between October and December 2011. The total depth was reached at 5000 m in
Triassic sequence. While no commercial inflow was experienced in Bekhme-1 well, data
gained significantly contributed to our knowledge on the geological setting/history of this
unexplored region, decreasing uncertainty for remaining potentials to be tested next year by
two additional exploration wells. Bekhme-1 is to be suspended; the test results are expected
not to change significantly the earlier estimated and published fully diluted, unrisked
recoverable resource potential of MOL's share in the Akri-Bijeel and Shaikan blocks.
Currently MOL has one rig on the Akri-Bijeel Block and further two are mobilized in Q1 2012.
Two rigs are operated by Rotary, a drilling service company of the Group. MOL will intensify
its work program in the next year with the drilling of several exploration and appraisal wells
and significant seismic acquisition and processing. MOL is planning to spend more than USD
100 mn on the intensified exploration, appraisal and early development program of Akri-
Bijeel block in 2012.
Exploration: MOL entered to the second exploration sub-period in November 2010
(6th Nov 2010 - 6th Nov 2012) in order to continue exploring the block potential.
MOL plans to drill two exploration wells (Bakrman-1, Gulak-1). The test results of
the exploration wells are expected in H2 2012.
Appraisal program: Parallel, in the next years we intend to appraise the
announced discovery based on the submitted appraisal plan. MOL plans to spud
four appraisal wells (Aqra-1, Bijell-2, Qalati-1, Qandagul-1) in 2012 according to
the preliminary work program. First appraisal well (Aqra-1) shall be spud when rig
is released from Bekhme-1, expected Q1 2012; its site preparation is finished.
Additional appraisal wells expected to be started H2 next year. The Aqra-1
appraisal well is to be tested in H2 2012, while the other three appraisal wells will
be tested in H1 2013 according to the planned drilling schedule. Two further
appraisal wells are planned for 2013.
Significant sized seismic acquisition over the Bijell discovery area and its
perimeters is to be made by GES, 100% affiliate of MOL Group between Q2-Q4
2012. Related de-mining works have been started.
Early development, extended well test: similarly to Shaikan block, extended well
test is planned for Bijell-1 as well, aiming to gather information on productivity of
reservoir. According to the preliminary schedule a surface facility will be built
(10,000 boepd gross capacity and storage capacity of cca. 30,000 bbl) till Q3
2012. The Engineering Procurement Construction and Commissioning project is
ongoing, the expected delivery time is around 10 months, and therefore updated
estimation of the earliest date for first production of this facility is expected at the
end of Q3 2012.
