Baghdad (AIN) –Farid Assassird, the member of the leading Committee of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, headed by the President Jalal Talabani, assured that "The leadership of Kurdistan Region will not hand over the Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, at the current time to Baghdad before holding the upcoming national conference."
A statement by PUK quoted Assassird as saying "The issue is not under discussion currently," noting that "Hashimi's case has two political and judicial sides."
"The Kurdish leadership does not want the crisis to be increased at this serious stage," he added.
"The Kurdish leadership does not want to take a decision which can be interpreted as a prejudice to one side against another in this case which is considered as Sunni-Shiite conflict," he mentioned.
"We will wait for the decision of the conference over Hashimi's case which will be an Iraqi decision made by the Kurdish, Sunni and Shiite sides," he concluded.
The President, Jalal Talabani has called to hold a national conference to settle the disputes among the political blocs. The conference will be held at the end of January.
The political process witnesses complicated disputes especially between the Iraqiya Slate and the State of Law Coalition when the IS decided to suspend attendance of its MPs to parliament sessions to protest “marginalization and monopolization policies” adopted by the Iraqi government and the accusations against the guards of the Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi for being involved in terrorism in addition to Maliki’s decision to dismiss his deputy Salih al-Mutleg. /End/
