UAE cancels debt owed by Iraq

Foreign Ministry announced that the United Arab Emirates decided to cancel the debts owed by Iraq, worth 8.5 billion dollars
The Foreign Ministry statement said the ministerial committee for each of the Emirates and Iraq met today at the Emirates its eighth session and headed for Iraq, Hoshyar Zebari, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, where, during which the announcement of agreement to cancel Iraqi debt owed to the UAE and signed formally in the near future.
The meeting also discussed all the issues raised and agreed by the preparatory committee, which included senior officials of the two countries also signed the minutes of the joint meetings of the Committee and to agree on a set of agreements and memorandums of understanding that will be discussed and signed within two months as well as agreement on the formation of a high level committee to follow up Committee's recommendations and decisions.
The statement noted that the committee held its meetings in a friendly atmosphere and positive through which both sides expressed their common desire in the development of bilateral relations and lifted to a higher level and upgrading them to sustainable relationships and strategy
