KUWAIT: After four whole years since the terrorist blast that claimed hundreds of innocent lives at the Zanjeeli City, Nainawa in 2008, some Iraqi parliamentarians demanded that Kuwait must compensate the victims over accusations that two Kuwaitis were involved in plotting and executing the blast.
Speaking at a press release, the Iraqi MPs stressed that the two Kuwaitis had been just released from Guantanamo when the explosion took place. Three days later, the Pentagon said it was closing down Guantanamo which was a serious mistake as “it detained the world’s most dangerous criminals, including the ones responsible for the Zangeeli blast.”
The MPs added that the Iraqi parliament intends to get verified facts about the involvement of a Kuwaiti in the blast to sue him. They added that if the suspect was proven killed, the Kuwaiti government would have to compensate the families of the victims.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s foreign minister, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said that the Iraqi PM, Nouri Al-Maliki would visit Kuwait soon adding that Iraq had already fulfilled many of its obligations with regards to the border demarcation.
Al-Khaled also said that Kuwait would supply Iraq with developed detection equipment to be used in searching for the remains of Kuwaiti prisoners of war, Al-Dar reported.
